About Us

Marvin Sanders opened Merchants Office Furniture in 1940 at its original 1511 Arapahoe downtown location. In 1961, Marvin sold his property to the developers of Park Central Tower and purchased the Bob Jones Skyland Ford building, located at the intersection of Broadway, Arapahoe, and 23rd Street (now Park Avenue West). Marvin’s son Richard joined the company in 1970, shortly after college graduation. Richard has successfully grown the company at this same location for 42 years. Jynx joined her father in January 2008 as the third generation at Merchants Office Furniture. In October 2010 and May 2012, Lexi and Zack joined their sister and father in growing the business, respectively. 

Merchants’ mission remains the same - to deliver “smart” office furniture solutions to the changing business landscape in Colorado and surrounding states for a generation to come.

Richard joined Merchants in August, 1970. With 42 years of experience, he leads the team in product knowledge and sales excellence. Richard’s familiarity with his customers, the furniture requirements of various businesses, and his competition, make him a true mentor to his staff and peers. Richard manages operations at Merchants and is invaluable to the company’s success.

Jynx joined Merchants in January 2008. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Economics. Shortly thereafter, she spent two years in Chicago selling advertising for KingWorld / CBS Enterprises. She spent the following year interning at a corporate real estate law firm in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Jynx returned to Denver in 2007 and began working in commercial real estate at Jones Lang LaSalle. With her background in sales and real estate, and her fluency in Spanish, Jynx focuses on business development and networking opportunities with unique expertise.  More info…

Lexi Sanders earned her degree in Communications from the University of Denver in June 2010. Lexi joined Merchants with the intention of establishing and updating the communication, marketing, and e-marketing aspects of the company. She is now the second daughter of owner, Richard Sanders, to join the family business.  More info…

Zack Sanders joined Merchants in May 2012. After 11 years in investment banking and equity research roles at firms including Citigroup and Morgan Stanley in New York City, Zack Sanders returned to Colorado and joined Merchants Office Furniture as a Principal. As a Chartered Financial Analyst and with significant experience in financial services, especially in the technology sector, Zack contributes to Merchants’ overall sales, technology, strategy, and finance initiatives.  More info…

As a designer Patrick is experienced in restaurant design, commercial tenant improvements, and residential design.  With over a decade of A&D experience, he specializes in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D Studio max.  As a partner of Three Foot Ninja, a design collective, Patrick has managed multiple projects with a various scopes of work and deadlines.  Patrick intends to identify, implement, and direct a project management program to stream-line the entire sales to install process for Merchants.  His goal is to improve the Company’s overall organization in order to generate additional sales revenue.  More info…

Jose has been with Merchants since June 1986.  As an upholstery professional, he does an impeccable job turning pre-owned hidden furniture treasures into truly like-new furniture. His knowledge of fabrics and emerging trends make him extremely valuable to Merchants and its customers. Jose assists in delivery and assembly of furniture as well. He’s a true pleasure to work with.

John is a jack-of-all-trades - a driver, an assembler, an installer, and a mechanic. He’s been with Merchants since 2004.  All projects are completed on time and successfully though John’s commitment to his work. He has proven just how valuable accountability is in the service business.

Chuck Hill, Retired

Marvin Sanders, the founding owner, hired Chuck in 1966. He retired in December 2010.  His 44 years of service have earned Merchants a tremendous reputation in refinishing. He visits often - his jovial attitude and contagious laugh are greatly missed on a day-to-day basis at Merchants.
